In 2017, we tried something different. We put a call out to find musicians from our districts to see if we could form a band to play during the show. And from that Scouting for Noise was born.
The item was so successful, we are looking to do the same for the 2018.
“Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple.”

The long summer break is over; school is about to start, Scout and Guide groups will be starting up again and of course Gangshow is back.
Rehearsals start back on Sunday 9th of September, and we’ll running through every Sunday until show week, which starts 26th of November.
It’s time to start learning the movement and place settings, and finding out who is in the choir and getting solos.
All the rehearsal info, songs, recordings and lyrics can be found on our password protected cast page. If you are a cast member and don’t know the password, please get in touch!

The first rehearsal for Swindon Gang Show 2018 is in the books. On the most glorious summers’ Sunday, the cast and production team got started by having our first sing through of the songs from our All Cast items.
We started the day with 82 cast members registered, and had a few walk ins which put us at over 90 cast!
Next week we’ll be starting on the songs for the age group items as well as recapping everything from week 1.
If you missed week 1, it’s not too late to get involved with our 2018 show. You can view all the dates here, and sign up to be part of the cast using the link below.
We had a brilliant turnout at our taster session and saw some fantastic talent in our showcase slots, and now its time launch the 2018 show!
We hope everyone who attended the taster day had loads of fun and are looking forward to being part of our 2018 show.
If you could not make the taster day, then do not worry, you can still sign up to be part of the show!
Swindon Gangshow is open to cubs and brownies and older, but be aware that our main show is open to members of Swindon North & Ridgeway Scouting Districts and Wiltshire North Guiding County who will be 8 or older at the in November 2018.
All of the rehearsal dates are available on dates page.
It takes over £20,000 to put on Swindon Gangshow to cover the costs of rehearsals space, costumes, musicians, and theatre hire. As with all Scouting and Guiding events, we ask all the cast members to pay a subscription to help cover some of these costs.
- £45 per person – Just over £2 a session
- £30 for each additional person from the same family
We recognise that often there are several members from the same family in the show, and so we are offering a discounted rate for each additional family member to make the cost more manageable.
- £15 / £10 – 24th June
- £15 / £10 – 9th September
- £15 / £10 – 7th October
If you have any problems with meeting the payment schedule, then please get in touch with the production team. Don’t let this be a blocker to being in the show!
Bring a Friend Discount
New for the 2018 show! If you introduce someone to the show who was not in the cast for our last Wyvern show then you both receive a £5 discount.
The person you introduce can be someone from your family, like a younger brother or sister, or a friend from your group. They can even be someone who has done Gangshows before 2017 and wants to come back.
On Sunday 20th of May, we will be running a taster session at Kingsdown School, before rehearsals start for our upcoming show at the Wyvern theatre in November 2018.
Anyone who wants to be in the show or is interested in finding out what gangshow is all about should head to our taster session to see what it’s all about. If you have a spare hour, come along and see what all the fuss is about.
The taster session is open to cubs and brownies and older, but be aware that our main show is open to members of Swindon North & Ridgeway Scouting Districts and Wiltshire North Guiding County who will be 8 or older at the in November 2018.
Everyone is invited to our main session from 2:30 – 3:30pm, where we’ll start with some warm ups and then move on to learning some singing and movement to one of the songs from our upcoming show.
We will also be running optional 20 minute showcase slots before and after the main session for you to show off your talents that we can use in the show. Take the opportunity to let us know how well you sing, show off a prepared dance routine or demo your acting skills.
If you can’t make the taster day and still want to get info about our next show, you can still fill in the form – just select the appropriate option!
Full details on the rehearsal schedule will be available at the taster day. We will have 3 singing rehearsals before the summer holidays on Sunday afternoons on the 24th June, 1st & 8th of July. We will then start back in Sunday afternoons from September 9th running through to the show.
One of our team has organised an illustrated talk from the mountaineer Pete Ellis. Pete is one of only roughly 350 people who has ever climbed to the highest points on each of the seven continents, and he will be talking about his expeditions and experiences.
This event is open to everyone so please spread the word!
